This 1,100 acre private island is a world of its own. Named for waxy whale regurgitation found washed ashore and used in perfume industry, the island is pristine. Host of the largest population of rock iguanas in the country, the island is home to a large nature preserve and mangrove lagoons. Offshore the island is bordered by the Columbus Channel; immensely deep, 22 miles wide and 7000 feet long. Varied sealife is attracted to the waters here, iacluding eagle rays, turtles, dolphins and migrating whales. Development is taking place in the form of the Turks & Caicos Sporting Club, a private, members-only community. This exclusive haven is a 20-minute jet ride from Providenciales.
