Well, this has been a busy few months for ‘Potcake Place’ here in Turks and Caicos. https://www.potcakeplace.com/

‘Potcake Place’ is a non profit organization, (located in Saltmills Plaza, Grace Bay, Providenciales) which adopts out – on average – 400 puppies a year, to approved homes mainly in The Turks and Caicos Islands, The USA and Canada. 100% of all dogs taken into their care are adopted out, and these fluffy adorable puppies are kept and cared for until they are fully adopted – however long the process may take!

As of the end of February, Potcake Place had 46 little puppies in their care with many many other litters of puppies waiting to come in from all over the island. Puppies are not allowed to go up for adoption until they have had all of their appropriate shots and worm medication, as a result Potcake Place urgently needs foster homes on island to help to take care of the puppies until they are completely ready for adoption. The more foster homes available, the more puppies can be saved and this means many hundreds less being born on the streets.

Volunteers are needed to help carry puppies back to awaiting homes in The United States and Canada. Potcake Place also urges the public, if they want to help, that they really appreciate donated items such as puppy ‘Pee Pee Pads’, puppy toys, airline approved pet transport bags, puppy formula and small puppy collars along with donations for dog food and vet bills; every donation (no matter how tiny) helps immensely.

Potcake Place would like to remind people also about the ‘puppy socialization walks’ which people can do Monday through to Saturday at 10am; the puppies love it! Tourists very much enjoy doing this; it’s very popular!

Potcake Place is an amazing organization; please take a look at their website: https://www.potcakeplace.com/, and see if you can offer a helping hand.

Graham Canham Coldwell Banker Turks Caicos Golfing

Golfing with Graham

When you think Turks & Caicos, powdery soft sandy beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters immediately come to mind. But how many of you know we have a championship level golf course directly across from the beach?

35 years ago the Turks & Caicos Water Company decided to take on the formidable challenge of building a golf course in a country with little annual rainfall, topsoil or even golfers! But as the country’s largest private landowner they were committed to helping grow the TCI’s tourism industry. This was a task only a water company could handle!

So in 1989 construction began and by 1992 the Provo Golf Club was opened. In 2021, the club rebranded as The Royal Turks & Caicos Golf Club. Over those decades, the club has hosted too many charitable tournaments to mention as well as prestigious events like the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship in 2022.

As an avid golfer it remains one of my favorite places on Providenciales. There are plans to offer homes directly on the golf course which will be released in the future, so stay tuned!!

Fun Fact: I shot my personal best – a 76 – last month!  You can find me the Royal Turks and Caicos Golf Club every Friday.

The Leeward development is located at the northeastern tip of Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos Islands.  A planned high-end residential neighborhood developed in the 1990’s by Leeward Limited, with the first phase of homes built by Johnson International.  The canal system was constructed in phases over a 15-year period as the demand for waterfront real estate with private dock space was increasing.

In the Turks & Caicos Islands’ most affluent community, you’ll find Byculla Villa. The Leeward neighbourhood is home to beautiful canal homes and – with 238 feet of frontage – few properties have as much waterfront. The villa has four spacious bedrooms but it was designed for expansion with the potential to add a second floor on the main section and increase the number of bedrooms.

Thanks to TCI’s perfect year round weather, this waterfront home was also designed with outdoor living in mind when laying out the home. Enjoy dining al fresco? You’ll love the outdoor dining area. Spend the day in the pool and sip a cocktail at the swim up bar. Or relax in the shade of the poolside tiki bar. The large canal front gazebo is where you’ll wave to your neighbours as they pass by on their way to a day on the water. Perhaps you’ll join them and head to your private boat dock?

The home is treasured by the owners but also currently available as a short term rental managed by one of the island’s top management companies – TKCA. There’s no question, Leeward is our island’s preferred location. For more information on Villa Byculla, currently listed for sale, please visit the link.

Less than a four-hour flight from JFK, Turks & Caicos is an award-winning Caribbean destination with pristine white sand beaches, crystal blue waters with coral reefs, and a selection of new luxury accommodations coming to market, perfect for those looking to escape the frigid Northeast winter.

Travel to Turks has been booming, and this year’s tourism numbers are set to surpass pre-pandemic levels thanks in part to major airlines like Delta, Virgin Atlantic, and Silver Airways adding new direct routes from the U.S. and Europe into Providenciales.

One enclave in particular, Grace Bay, is primed to become a top Caribbean destination thanks to a slew of new developments that offer gorgeous beaches, world-class dining, and access to Bight Reef (a.k.a. Coral Gardens) which is home to turtles, stingrays, parrotfish, butterfly fish, nurse sharks, and countless other species.

Two developments coming to market, Andaz Turks and Caicos as well as The Strand are offering unique opportunities for buyers at varying price points.

The Harbour Gates development is located on the south side of Providenciales along the Chalk Sound peninsula in the Turks & Caicos Islands.  This small residential neighborhood is a lovely community of villas and beachfront properties at Sapodilla Bay Beach.  The bay is known for its calm and shallow water, perfect for families.  The Sapodilla Hill Historic Site, southwest of the development, bears inscriptions in the rock dating back to 1767.
The neighbourhood is known as Harbour Gates and Sapodilla Beach is one of the best places on Providenciales to view the sunset and families enjoy how calm the waves are on this secluded beach. Las Brisas – a popular restaurant – is just around the corner and a local favorite.
Located just steps from the tranquil waters of Sapodilla Beach, this elevated residential lot in Chalk Sound is an excellent place for a future vacation rental. The hillside topography provides an opportunity to build with ocean views and cooling tradewinds in mind.  It is becoming increasingly more challenging to find vacant lots walking distance from the beach, so I encourage you to come take a look at this unique property.
